Now that some of the initial responses to the election outcome have passed, commentators seem to have turned to speculating about what the new government will try to do, and how it will achieve it. By the time you read this, the State Opening of Parliament will have happened, and we may, or may not, have a slightly clearer idea.

I much regret delivering this pessimistic assessment, but more and more I find that my fellow-citizens, from whatever background, share this view.

18 years in jail for doing something that’s not even a crime? What?
In July 2022, I wrote about the Foundationist community, which is the most original and creative work of ‘Carbon Mike’ also known as Dexter Taylor. As I write this, Mike is in the notorious 'Rikers Island' prison awaiting sentencing. His crime? For breaking the law as the New York state legal system would like it to be, rather than as it actually is.
