Like all students, I was taught always to respect my sources and give full referencing if I wished to quote from any sources in my written work.
However, in sermons it just isn’t practical to credit every idea to its source, and because I’ve occasionally taken an idea from an author and then developed it further, my memory doesn’t allow me to be precise about sources in every single case.
Quite a lot of material that you’ll find on this site represents my own original ideas, but I’d like to thank those authors whose work has helped to shape my opinions, sometimes by sparking off a different idea. The following is a partial list of authors. Any omissions are entirely my fault and will be corrected if reported to me via the ‘Contact’ page on this site:
- Kenneth E Bailey
- Marcus J Borg
- John Dominic Crossan
- Susan Durber
- Bart D Ehrman
- Cyril Fletcher
- Michael Mayne
- Nigel Moules
- Henri J M Nouwen
- Brandon J O’Brian
- John J Pilch
- E Randolph Richards
- John Shelby Spong
- Barbara Brown Taylor
- Desmond Tutu
- Peter R Watkins
- Samuel Wells
For those who have been inspired by this site to read further, I would strongly recommend The Heart of Christianity (2003) by Marcus J. Borg, HarperCollins Publishers, 10 East 53rd Street, New York, NY 10022, USA.
